Sometime in the last quarter of 2021, part of my DeviantArt account got wiped out (in fact, I lost access momentarily). I wrote off the experience and gave up on DeviantArt. After some time, I checked back and found that only the most ancient of my uploads survive to this day. I have since started my own Google Sites personal art and CG projects website at https://sites.google.com/view/grumpyoldfartssite/home

Anyway, I have now regained this account but will not be adding fresh uploads nor re-uploading any content which had been lost in the last quarter of 2021.

Subsurface scattering, procedural materials, IDL lighting, blah blah

There are scarier threads in Renderosity and RuntimeDNA forums, but heck, I am so pissed that using Poser is becoming a techie geek's jaunt, instead of a pleasurable experience in producing hobbyist 3D photo-realistic art.

Not always satisfactory having the flat sheets of fake branches, set up using transparency shader.

May be interesting to have a procedural random plant generated via Python script within Poser.

Not certain if Blender has a Ruby script for this.

Not certain if Google Sketchup has script for this, either.

Don't think Shade has the utility.  Forget Hexagon.

No, I don't want Ivy Generator-exported OBJ plants for import into Poser.  Too polygon-intensive.

Oh well, I can wait.

Like I am still waiting for the procedurual random city generator script for Poser.....

( tries to grab hold of Python scripting expert - my nephew - but he's half the planet away at this time )

It appears that Bryce 7 can install on a 64-bit Windows 7 OS quad-core machine, BUT - ....

It also installs an out-of-date Microsoft Visual C++ build which has to be updated.

I did not know about this after installing Bryce, so I attempted to launch the app, and I received a system error message about side-by-side application failure blah blah.

A little research through the internet pointed me in the direction of updating the Visual C++ item.  To make things easy for myself, I simply ran Windows Update and voila, it pulled down exactly the item I needed and installed it.  No need for me to figure out which what who how download to get from the Microsoft website.

Bryce will launch correctly now.

Bryce is available from DAZ 3D:
